Banff--The Mountains in May

A weekend visit from our cousin, who works in California, prompted an impromptu trip to the mountains in May, to become a tourist in Banff for the first time in years. Banff, Lake Louise, and the Columbia Icefields are surprisingly cold and rainy compared to Edmonton's fair weather this year. The mountain fresh air was a nice change though!

After Rishi, Rakhi and I took Shalinder to the infamous West Edmonton Mall on Friday night, we all caught the movie "What Happens in Vegas" (a little TOO predictable for those of you planning to see it) and compared Edmonton's icecream vendors to the Californian version of Marble Slab.

Saturday morning, we left bright and early to the mountains, rode on the glacier, drove around the scenic routes and visited the collection of Fairmont hotels. Too bad the rainy weather prevented a gondola ride!
